Everton in the hunt to sign ex-West Ham man

Everton could bolster their midfield ranks with a summer move for former West Ham United man Valon Behrami, according to sources in Italy.

Roberto Martinez has been linked with several central midfielders since arriving at Goodison Park last summer, but the only one to arrive on a permanent deal was James McCarthy from his former club Wigan Athletic.

The Spanish manager, according to Mediaset, is now keen on Behrami, who currently plies his trade at Napoli.

Behrami has started just over half of Napoli's 24 league matches this term and Everton have already made enquiries over his availability.

Napoli will not make a decision on the Switzerland international's future until the end of the season, although they are mindful that Inter Milan are also interested in the anchorman.
